Sometimes in busy threads with many participants it can get a bit confusing: when someone posts without quoting a specific post, who is the comment directed to?

This feature makes it easy to

  1. indicate in your post who you are addressing; and
  2. notify the person tagged that a reply to him or her has been added.
For example, you might post

@djbaxter, I think this is a really dumb idea
or

@Linda Buquet, who the heck IS this @djbaxter person?
I've been using this on a couple of other forums for a while now and I find it useful.

Tell us what you think about it here in this thread and/or in the poll above.

Great idea! Will it work with the TapaTalk App?

To be honest, I don't remember. Tapatalk is just a backup for me.

Apparently so, although you can only see the linked user if it was posted outside of Tapatalk. So... the answer is sort of.

Oh awesome David! Didn't know there was an add-on for that.

We use the feature heavily at the Google forum. Here I often say, let's wait and see if Colan or Joy (or whoever) thinks, so it will really help to alert a specific person to a post!

Oh and regarding that "who the heck IS this @djbaxter person?" question...
I don't know and I've been wondering that for years!
He sure does have a great sense of humor though! :D

I have temporarily disabled this feature while we investigate whether it is now triggering popups for Push Notifications in browsers.

I don't believe it is doing that but we are testing now.

Unfortunately, we have had to remove that feature.

It apparently causes annoying popups asking for members to allow push notifications.

I have brought this to the attention of the coders. If they can provide a work-around we can try installing it again.

I discovered a setting I hadn't noticed before which I think was responsible for the Push Notification popups.

I have re-enabled the feature now with that setting turned off.

If you get Push Notification popup alerts on this site, please let me know here or via PM, but I think I have disabled that part of the addon.

It is implemented now.

Are you still seeing Push Notification popup alerts?
If so please share which browser and device you are using.
