Thanks @Bryan Bloom I maintain a highly detailed sheet for clients that has all the details I would ever need for a reinstatement (including the CID). Google is too prone to bugs and mistakes like this. I look at it like insurance.
No, I was more referring to users creating GMB profiles for generic keywords so they can sell GMB profiles. As far as protected business names, there already is a way of reporting a short url in violation.

Yes, name squatting will occur, they do have some small preventative measure in place for this though.
Another thing to add to this, please please please, document your GMB Profile CID. One thing we are seeing is that on reinstatement a new Profile is being created, the only way you will know this is if your CID or Place ID is different. This is happening in conjunction with the lost reviews...
I am seeing this on 90% of GMB profiles. I noticed that even though this is a category update, that in list view there is no indication that an update is awaiting approval.
Interestingly, I do not see it on any rehabs? Anyone else seeing it on a rehab (or restricted category) profile?
We do posts consistently for our clients and see a marginal impact from them. The greater the frequency in posts the greater the impact. Also, quality matters. But as Joy stated, doing other activities is more than worth it.
@Phil Rozek There seem to be a few minor bugs occurring in GMB web recently. I have a hunch that a new dashboard layout (hopefully with new features like Q&A) is on the way. #speculation
