Hyper local media goes viral and may turn a disaster into a big long term positive

Here is a story that all the local search consultants might find helpful and useful. Our local business picked it up, took some pictures and interviewed some of the people that took advantage of the opportunity. Then we blogged about it:

Arlington Restaurants: Making Chicken Salad out of chicken sh**

We do enjoy this nearby restaurant. They had a burst water pipe and while facing a shut down, decided to give away food for free. They posted one story in one very visible hyper local media site: arlnow.com at Free Food at Toscana Grill Tonight | ARLnow.com

The story went viral. Hundreds of people showed up. Clearly the word free worked!!

We interviewed diners who found the restaurant that evening and their reactions are in our blog piece.

its a nice story to contemplate when working with local smb's...for the smb's and in attempting to get high visibility.

I put the above story out there just to get some commentary going and ideas from the many experienced seo's and smb operators here.
