Arim makes some great points in this post. Step back from the things a bit and don't forget to look at marketing in new ways. We can get buried sometimes. The idea of optimizing your website for search is a pretty straight forward process now. Don't get caught up in chasing keywords and rank. You want to have a solid brand that spreads a message that makes people want to engage.

How to Dominate the SERP without SEO Knowledge
June 22, 2015 Posted by Arim Salci

What?s the catch with ranking number one in the SERP? I bet you?ve asked yourself that question before and I bet you still wonder. The answer is, you don?t even need to know what SEO is to dominate the SERP!

Great post. I particularly like the point about knowing your business. The most successful campaigns that I have had come from clients who can tell me everything I want to know (and more) about their business. I like how he points to the trend of SEO becoming less about tactics and becoming more about creating a great website that tells users as much useful info about their business.

Thanks Justin. Looks intriguing and if Michael liked it that much, can't wait to read over my vacation.

I think if you are the kind of SEO specialist that uses "tactics" as your main focus, you just line yourself up to be a company that is more reactionary than it is progressive. Tactics generally come and go, but having a solid brand and marketing plan in place can help you ride out the regular Google hiccups.
