Trending [November 5, 2019 Local Algorithm Update] Unexplained big drops in GMB rankings

Think I have discovered why the site I had the drops in dropped. This was an SAB site with 26 local locations listed and last Tuesday Google put a cap / reduced the cap to 20 locations. When I was checking GMB tonight to see if anything had changed I noticed the Service area section was...

Maximum of 20 Service Areas on a GMB Listing

Had a site drop out of the map pack for the majority of the terms over the weekend and I was checking the GMB info tonight to see if anything had got out of sync (clients team sometimes unhelpfully change stuff) and realised the SAB listing area was highlighted in red. I had 26 local locations...

Trending [November 5, 2019 Local Algorithm Update] Unexplained big drops in GMB rankings

Had same - dropped 8 keywords for a client out of the map pack but all went to 2 or 3 as the competition don't know how to build websites yet. What I did note is that one competitor has spots 2 and 3 now as they have seperate GMB accounts for the business at slightly differnt locations (1 mile...

Google's New Announcement About Review Schema

Nothing like a 3rd part embed to slow your site down... Guess we will have to test when this rolls out. I making some screen shots of different clients with reviews currently in their SERPs for when they ring me to shout at me.

Google's New Announcement About Review Schema

First place I came to as soon as I read the post. It is a bit ambiguous. "Reviews that can be perceived as “self-serving” aren't in the best interest of users. We call reviews “self-serving” when a review about entity A is placed on the website of entity A - either directly in their markup or...

Huge Change for Service Area Businesses in Google My Business

I had one client end of last year where I had put The United Kingdom as her service area and GMB decided this included the UK Military base on Cyprus in the Mediterranean so the rad area of the map went in a big triangle across most of Europe. I have since changed this to England and the area is...

Someone added Special Hours for the busiest day of the year and set it to closed...

Oddly I have had several more emails from Google telling me there is a fault and they are fixing it. The way the email was worded suggests to me that they are working on a way to fix the updates without approval issue - which would be nice

Someone added Special Hours for the busiest day of the year and set it to closed...

Google My Business team have just replied to my email me saying that the primary owner made the change a while back. Except that she told me she did not - I am more likely to believe her.

Someone added Special Hours for the busiest day of the year and set it to closed...

Thank you Joy. We think we know who it is - judging by the number of backlinks a competitor site has recently got and a duplicate map pack (now in 2 and 3 with my client at 1). Shitty tactics but Karma will get them.

Someone added Special Hours for the busiest day of the year and set it to closed...

For UK Florists the 30th March is their busiest day of the year. So to my surprise, I found that one of our clients had her GMB listed with a Special Hours addition for the 30 March and it was set to 'Closed'. I talked to her and she was shocked immediately suspecting a local competitor of...
