Frankenstorm - Wishing East Coast Members Safety from Hurricane Sandy

I imagine some of our members on the East Coast will soon be knee deep in water or without power. Sounds like this storm is even going wreak havoc inland as far as Chicago and Wisconsin with Lake Michigan waves predicted to be as high as 18 - 25 feet Monday night or Tuesday.

So if you are in Sandy's path and have power, let us know you are OK and how the weather is there.

Hope you all make it out safely and without any damage to your homes or offices.

Being in Rochester, NY I usually see an edge of a hurricane come through the east coast... this time the hurricane path is projected to travel directly over my house

Hopefully everyone is preparing for this and keeping safe!

Oh no EsR! Are you evacuating or hunkering down or moving furniture to 2nd floor or what???

    Stay safe!!!

I can't believe how bad some areas are already with landfall still maybe hours away.

Re: Frankenstorm - Wishing East Coast Members Safety from Hurricane Sandy

Thanks for the google.org links, Linda. I didn't even know those existed.

Earlier today, I posted this at Psychlinks:

It looks like the worst is going to hit west, south, and east of Ottawa, those areas closer to waterways like the Great Lakes or the St. Lawrence River. Here, we're probably looking at some rain and winds of up to 60-80 kph (35-50 mph). Niagara, Toronto, and Montreal will be harder hit though.
Four hours later, I posted this:

The projected storm track keeps changing, shifting toward the east. Looks like Toronto and Niagara will be largely spared the center of the storm.

For a while it looked like it was shifting north to Kanata, just north west of Ottawa but now it's shifted again south of Kemptville and veering east toward Quebec. If it doesn't shift again, it looks like it will track north of Montreal and then further east.

Really, our area looks like it's going to be spared the worst of it. If you plotted a course for the least populated areas, you'd get the current course.
But I'm fully aware that two hours from now everything may have changed again...

Yep it's crazy out there and keeps changing. I wondered if it would head toward you David.
    Have been watching for that.

People are surfing Lake Michigan near Chicago cuz the waves are so big. Just crazy!

A sane person would look at the waves and say, "Yikes! Let's get outa here!"...

    Surfers...

Best of luck! I'm in Albany and we're just getting little spats of wind right now. Hope it stays that way.
