End in Sight for Places to Plus Transition?

Ever since Google began the long process of moving Google Places pages to Google+, one of the primary outstanding questions that has been asked was how Google would allow personal accounts not yet upgraded to Plus to have social features. I may have found the answer. I have encountered multiple instances of logging into Google accounts with claimed Places pages... Read more »

Is this different than the auto-upgrade that Google started doing back on August 20?

Re: End in Sight for Places to Plus Transition?

Hi Colan, Kerry PMed me about this and I replied to him:

Are you talking about what I announced back in Aug?
Google Begins Auto-Upgrade of G+ Local Listings to Google+ Business Pages

Yes we are heading toward everyone being auto-updated no profile needed. More and more are being upgraded.

No time to read, was there some other nuance or recent change you are referring to besides what I posted about?
I'll ping him to come explain but I think he's basically saying instead of listings being upgraded to new dash, then some get auto-upgraded after that to G+, they are seeing listings to straight from old dash to new G+ and new Places dash.

Linda is exactly right, Colan. I have updated my blog post to reference the news from August. The bigger news is that creating a standalone Google+ business page in the "Local" category is no longer possible (the last part of my blog post) without going through the verification process.
