Exclamation Planned Map Maker Outage & Update, beginning Nov 20, 2013

Planned Map Maker Outage, beginning Nov 20, 2013

One of the great things about Google Map Maker is the fact that the wonderful contributions you make go to all of Google’s products, including Google Maps, Google Earth, and Google Maps for Mobile. In order to strengthen the link between Map Maker and these other products, we are making some behind-the scenes improvements to ensure your mapping contributions reach all associated Google products as efficiently and reliably as possible. These changes will also result in a single repository to hold all Maps data, and let us get rid of Google Automated Syncer bots and related issues.

Within the next day, Map Maker will undergo a planned outage, lasting a few days, to make these changes. During this time, we will be unable to accept edits or reviews of edits on Map Maker. You will still be able to use Google Maps to report a problem or fix the map. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and will post again when we begin the outage.
Places TCs were not alerted, so maybe it does not affect "our world" that much, but the part I bolded sure sounds like it could.

PLUS just having MM down would be nice to be notified about. Treebles, one of the TCs happened to catch this announcement over at the MM forum, which I don't get a chance to read much these days.

The info in the announcement is all I know at this time. We've asked Google for some clarification about the things that could affect local listings. Will keep you posted if I get any new info.

    Hello,
It looks like Map Maker is back online here in U.S. Confirmed with Malcolm (360 Spin) in UK.

    Hiya,

Mapmaker is indeed back in the UK.
Have you notices that SABs with hidden address have re-appeared again? Bug or?

Oops you are right. Not only are hidden address listings showing in MM and edit details BUT the address is exposed there as well.

I doubt that is intended and assume they know about it.

I'm torn about telling them because I like to hit edit details when researching problems but again I guess they probably know and are working on it.
