Why Do Some Google Local Search Results Show G+ Links And Not Others?

John Cavers sent along this question, which I have seen people asking a lot recently: I see some of the listings below have a link to the “Google+ page” and others do not. How is this link made on these listings? Prior to the rollout of the review box pop-up in the main local search [...]

Re: Why Do Some Google Local Search Results Show G+ Links And Not Others?

At end of that post Mike said:

"If a business has no reviews but a social page, I am not sure what they show. If you have an example of that please forward it so that I can what shows."

Wanted to answer his Q on the LocalU blog, but the comment widget seems to be borked. So I emailed the following to him and wanted to share it here as well.

In that case (Merged with social but no reviews) it still shows the G+ link. So basically if there is a social page the link shows regardless of reviews.

Example: san marcos ca plumber - 3 of the listings are merged with social features and have no reviews. (Alt, DC and Drain Patrol)

Just like an unmerged page with no social and no reviews there is still a link to the G+ page.

So in a nutshell the only missing link is unmerged Place page with reviews. And the unmerged Place pages will eventually go away once everyone is upgraded to G+ with social features.
