    Thanks Linda and All

I got the newsletter - just one more reason this forum is terrific. Thanks Linda.

So I keep telling myself to get more active here and contribute. The members here are wonderful too and I appreciate all the different perspectives.

As a longtime (35 years) local business owner my perspective is, I think, aligned pretty closely with most other business owners. I live and breath marketing, always have. For most business owners though it is not the first or second thing they think about when they get up in the morning. My game plan is aimed more at the big picture even though I know Google has the keys to the kingdom.

I'm sharing this because I've found that placing supreme emphasis on Google + local/places/local Google + (did I miss any?) sometimes puts me in a position of having to deliver something I can't control. I've also found that clients and prospects who are apt to become clients trust whatever game plan I put forth.

My big picture involves much more than marketing. Actually the reason I can't seem to find the time to participate here is a productivity suite I'm working on. A huge piece of that involves marketing though and the point I'm trying to make is diversification. There are lots of opportunities out there for traffic not named Google so not if but when Google has an accidental or intentional bug or glitch we can still get some wins.

Perhaps some folks here will benefit from a rethink of an all Google strategy, perhaps not. I still do whatever is necessary to rank in places but when the inevitable breakdown comes I sleep pretty good. God Bless Linda for tending to all those folks who believe Google is the be-all and end-all.

Some food for thought. We're supposed to have patience while Google tries to find and fix bugs in Google + local. Another Google product has no bugs at all, driver-less cars. Musta been their lucky day.

Awww thanks Chris, that was so nice!

Plus thanks too for the reminder to diversify. It's easy for some of us (especially me) to get so focused on Google that we lose perspective on the big picture.
