Haters and Critics: How to Deal with People Judging You and Your Work

I normally get tons of "inspirational articles" sent to me and will skim them. However I went back and read every word of this article because it spoke to me so much. Anyone who deals a lot with forums and online conversations knows how easy it is to offend someone or have someone lash out at you and send you hate mail. All you out there feeling this MUST read this entire article:

This is one of the reasons I have backed off of most forums and focused on communities like we have here. I'm more interested in interacting and learning with people that are professional and respectful. We still get feedback in here that might sting the ego a bit, but the feedback is respectful and ultimately creates an environment to learn, share, laugh and "pound our heads on the desk" together. Thanks for the post....

    Good one Joy!

I like the part about "Focus on the Road, Not the Wall". So true!

I've lived on forums now for over 14 years. One I used to live at was horrendously cruel. People there had a mob mentality and one wrong move and they would all attack like sharks that smelled blood. Felt so sorry for all the people that were ruthlessly attacked.

You even need a tough skin to be a TC at the Google and Your Business Forum because some of those business owners are so frustrated they will rip you a new one no matter how helpful you are trying to be. It can be super hurtful at times.

I have to say, and with no bias intended, this is the most well mannered helpful forum I've ever belonged to. Because we tightly moderate, to keep out the riff raff, I think I can count the flame wars or personal attacks on one hand. Thank God for our good members!
