The awesome graphic guys at my company put together a nice infographic on how people use local search (based on a bia kelsey study) - How Consumers Use Local Search

<a href="http://hubshout.com/?How-Consumers-Use-Local-Search&AID=1195"><img src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/systememailimages/41_20140514_0189073.jpg"></a><br><a href="http://hubshout.com">HubShout</a>

The execs at HubShout also do a daily video and talk about some of the new things happening in the industry, so that's where the infographic is from. Let me know what you guys think. If you have some good suggestions, add a comment on our site (we use Disqus) and lets get a cool discussion going.

Yes great job on the infographic Eric!

Thanks for sharing here AND for mentioning at your blog that you shared it with us.
Much appreciated!

Great graphic! I found some of the "biggest local mistake" data a little hard to believe and then looked at the study to see that it refers to SMBs not putting basic contact info on their homepage. (Most presumably list it somewhere on their site.)

Given that SMBs/consultants often try to draw actionable insights from resources like this, you might want to clarify--you want them to say, "Doh! I better get my phone number front and center!" rather than "I have a Contact Us page so I'm good."

Finally, no doubt among the costlier mistakes in this category must be SMBs' neglect of reviews! (Yep, you can count on me to say it every time ;)

Definitely agree with you Jon (on both the homepage part and the reviews :D). It's ridiculous that small business owners aren't thinking, "what is the easiest way to get someone to call me?" I think if more people put themselves in the shoes of the user, they'd realize, "oh crap, I actually have to work to find a phone number?" That should be enough to push them for a change.

Or maybe I just have the marketing hat on right now and i'm not thinking like a typical business owner... :p
