Do it, Drop it, Delegate it, Defer it

    Hi All,

In my pursuit to be more effective in everything I do, especially b/c I tend to want to learn/know/understand everything about...well, everything a fellow employee shared this great post with me about How to scale yourself and get more done than you thought possible.

I know we all have a lot on our plates with work, family, and of course, Google but most importantly LIFE!

I hope this helps anyone who ever gets that overwhelming feeling of not being able to keep up.

Towards the end it reminded me of your forum, Linda.

I used to have 1,000 blogs that I would read. And then who's the greatest blog reader in the world? It's Robert Scoble, he's always talking about how many blogs that he reads. So I finally decided, 'I'm not Robert Scoble.' He's a freak, and it's not healthy to keep up on that many blogs. So you know what I do? I read his blog. So I took the thousand blogs that I read and I pick five link blogs. I found my Scobles. And I read those five blogs and they give me an aggregated news. It's like why we listen to the BBC news on the hour, because it tells us what's going on so I don't have to watch all the other news. Find your aggregator inside of the company.

Ask yourself: Who is the person who can tell me what's going on and keep me up to date? That person is your aggregator.

This was the first place I started. I stopped trying to read every Local blog I knew of and instead I chose one. This forum is my aggregator. It's a tiny start to becoming more effective and efficient but it has allowed me to have time in the mornings that I didn't have last week.

So thank you Linda, Dusty, Colan, the moderators I am missing Phil, and every single one of the contributors in this forum for keeping me aware, informed, and for sharing your knowledge and research that I know everyone works extremely hard on.

    OMG Amber!

I came to read this (I read all posts here) but came to read this one specifically thinking there was a message I needed to learn about organizational skills. Because you know me, always overloaded.

But what I found was not just a message about org skills it was one of the biggest compliments I and this forum have ever gotten. And it's a great way to look at this place and the wealth of info it contains - as your local news aggregator.

Thank you SO much Amber. You just made my week!

But it's the mods, and top contributors and members that help keep this place filled with the latest news, so I'm really appreciative of the fact you thanked them too!

I couldn't have said that better Amber! I too use this forum as my "hub". Everyone here knows how all that news out there applies directly to what we do on a daily basis, so why go anywhere else?

Thanks Amber for sharing that article. Definitely a topic I need help with, so good timing there.

And many, many thanks from me as well to Linda and everyone mentioned above.

Thanks Amber! I agree 100%. There is a ton of great info out there and this community that Linda started, Linda's baby, is the HUB.

"Effectiveness is doing the right things, but efficiency is doing things right. That means effectiveness is picking a direction and efficiency is running really fast in that direction,"
This is great! Working on a plan to do something for an hour can sometimes save multiple hours of work Especially in on page optimization. I'd rather have all the code & text done before I even get into the website to work on it. Then I can do it all at once & if I run into a problem, I can move on right away while waiting for the webmaster to get back to me.
