    The Best Way to Avoid Yelp’s Review Filter

    Trying to collect reviews on Yelp can be a very frustrating process! Often if you ask someone to review you on Yelp, the reviews end up getting filtered. Yelp tends to filter reviews that are left by people who aren’t regular Yelp users. This means your best chance for successfully collecting Yelp reviews is to...

    Re: The Best Way to Avoid Yelp’s Review Filter

    Well evidently here is one thing NOT to do. Don't dance around with a salesperson. Don't consider advertising with Yelp and then not go through with it.

    One of our smb's did that. Since then we've had 12 consecutive filtered reviews. Its not a restaurant and not a business that easily gets reviews unless one requests them from customers

    Of the 12 reviewers 5 had multiple reviews already, all but 3 had yelp pictures, several had a ton of yelp friends and some other elements of yelp "reality".

    In fact I looked at one of those reviewers w/ multiple yelp reviews. All their other reviews SHOW.

    when they call for advertising just put them off, put them off, put them off.

    The term MF'er comes to mind, when thinking about yelp.

    Re: The Best Way to Avoid Yelp’s Review Filter

    I experienced one of my own reviews being filtered.

    I have an established Yelp account since 2009. I've added pics and filled out my personal bio. I've left a handful of reviews in the past 5 years. I even swallowed my pride and friended a few people on Yelp.

    I posted a review of a pediatric dentist (who's a client of mine) after I took my son for his first dental appointment.

    I guess Yelp figured out that I work with the pediatric dentist, so my review was filtered.

    I even checked in via Yelp when I came for our appointment. Still filtered.

    I went back and changed my 5 star to a 4 star and added an update to my review.

    Still filtered. Bashtards.

    @Chris

    It's more likely that Yelp whacked you for not writing reviews often enough. If you "go cold" as a reviewer, not only is Yelp more likely to filter new reviews you post, but they may also filter some of your reviews retroactively.
