Hi All,

I'll do my best to share some good stuff here from LocalUp in Seattle which is going on as I type this :)

Dr. Pete – Pigeons, Packs, and Paid: Google Local 2015
• Pigeon – How did it impact SERP’s
o Google trying to integrate local and organic algos
o 25% drop in Local packs
o 47% loss in 7-Packs
o Local entities are dynamic
o % of local packs increases as the city population size increases
o Attack of the Snack Packs (New 3 Packs)
o Clicks take you to the LKG, not the business website
o Mostly broad search terms that trigger it
o New packs are designed for mobile
o Invasion of the paid results
o Local KG + Paid Hotels results showing up
o Local KG Test (July) – Paid listings showing up in organic KG
o Once again, it appeared first on mobile
o Test – Aug 11, 2014 – a local looking pack appeared that was all paid results
o Don’t play local, BE local
o Understand the local area that a business is located in
o Hyper-local

Since I can't be at LocalUp, the big event from Locu & Moz, I'm going to cover the conference and share any updates/tips I find. Stay tuned as I'll be adding updates throughout the day.

Many of our members including Colan are there and he's sharing gold nuggets live from the event.

Mike Blumenthal AKA Professor Maps is up next.
Sounds like he's mainly doing history of local to start.

Next up JADE with Google! (However FYI often there are no tweets allowed when Google speaks, so it might be quiet for awhile.)

Darren was supposed to be up next talking about reviews.
But I hear he was unable to attend due to family health issues.
Not sure what happens next but I need to go get some other work done.

Will be back with more when I can.

Edited to add: Looks like Mike Blumenthal is covering for Darren.

I'll just try to pick up choice tips here and there as I can.

Whew! Rand is still talking but I need to run. My carpal is worn out. May have more later.

Thanks Greg and everyone else for Tweeting event for those of us that could not make it.

Hi Colan and Rachel! Thanks for saying hi!

Re: In-depth #LocalUp Coverage: Tweets & Slide Decks from the LocalU Event at Moz

I think a lot of you that weren't at the event were out playing this weekend and missed this.

And those that were there, were probably too busy listening to speakers to keep up with all the Tweets.

Thanks to Local University, Moz and all the speakers for an incredible event! Wish I could have been there!

Special thanks to Tweetmeister Greg Gifford who provided most of the great Tweets you'll find above.

I'd highly recommend going though some of the slide decks above.
A TON of gold nuggets were shared!

Re: In-depth #LocalUp Coverage: Tweets & Slide Decks from the LocalU Event at Moz

Wow, a lot of great information here. Wish I could have gone to the event but thank you for posting all you did Linda!

Re: In-depth #LocalUp Coverage: Tweets & Slide Decks from the LocalU Event at Moz

Great stuff, Linda! Now what the heck did Jade say?!

Re: In-depth #LocalUp Coverage: Tweets & Slide Decks from the LocalU Event at Moz

Does anyone else receive an error message when trying to download and view the pdf and Power Point presentations?

Thanks

Re: In-depth #LocalUp Coverage: Tweets & Slide Decks from the LocalU Event at Moz

I downloaded the Rand Fishkin presentation without any trouble. Does anyone have a link to it, rather than just a PDF download?

Re: In-depth #LocalUp Coverage: Tweets & Slide Decks from the LocalU Event at Moz

If you search you can find some of them on Slideshare. I found a couple and posted but don't have time to go looking for all the rest.
