Unfortunately, I am going to be square on this one. Had something come up and I will be out of the office all day.

Look forward to seeing the video over the weekend.

Question Re: Multi-Location Local Search Optimization Webinar

    Hey Linda,

Here's a question for the webinar.

What recommendations can the panelists provide for naming listings and profiles for a business that has multiple locations across citation platforms.

For example, Larry's Scooters has locations in Springville, New Town, and Smallton.
Listings for the business are currently named:
    • Larry's Scooters - Springville
    • Larry's Scooters - New Town
    • Larry's Scooters - Smallton

Google's guidelines state that in the Business Information, the name cannot contain 'Location information'. Are these listings in violation of this guideline or because they are physically located in that area count as 'real-world representations' of the business location.

    The guidelines for reference: https://support.google.com/business/answer/3038177

If these listings are in violation of the guideline, can a naming best practice be provided? For Google My Business? And for other major citation platforms?

Thanks! Looking forward to the webinar!

Re: Multi-Location Local Search Optimization Webinar

    Hi Will,

SO sorry! I was so busy that I totally missed this question until now + was out most of day yesterday.

But no should not add city onto the name for a variety of reasons.
Mainly because it's against the Google guidelines.

But also realize from a surfer perspective, it's not really needed to differentiate that way.

Generally Larry's Scooters in Springville will only rank in Springville not in New Town.

So someone searching for Scooters Springville will only see the Springville location, which will be located on the Springville map and have Springville in the address.

The name should simply be the business name.

    GUIDELINES:

Location information, such as neighborhood, city, or street name, unless it is part of the real-world representation of the business. Your name must not include street address or direction information.

Not acceptable: "Starbucks Downtown", "Macy’s Union Square", "Holiday Inn (I-93 at Exit 2)", "U.S. Bank ATM - 7th & Pike - Parking Garage Lobby near Elevator"

Acceptable: "Starbucks", "Macy’s", "Holiday Inn Salem", "U.S. Bank ATM", "University of California Berkeley"
The exception being if the name is really "Dallas Family Dentistry" - then Dallas is part of the real name.
