Cool Last days of Old-Time Local SEO

Google To Launch New Doorway Page Penalty Algorithm

Google will take algorithmic action on more doorway pages in the near future. The new algorithm adjustment will impact these pages trying to increase their search footprint.
Google To Launch New Doorway Page Penalty Algorithm
    Pages that might be penalised:

"pages duplicate useful aggregations of items (locations, products, etc.) that already exist on the site for the purpose of capturing more search traffic"

For me this means Local SEO has to be done 100% according to the google guidelines, not anymore by mixing location names with targeted keywords in all possible ways.

    Great algo update

Re: Last days of Old-Time Local SEO

I think this is great. For too long Local SEO has been sort of a free-for-all hurting searchers, users and SEOs. I think these last few local algo updates are doing a lot to clean up SERPs.I also think that these updates are helping those of us who are doing things the right way to get results from all of our hard work.

Thanks Serg. I'm working on a big post about this for tomorrow and we've been discussing today at the Pro community too.

This is a pet peeve of mine! I think the big offenders will get a slap on the wrist, but they'll adjust their practice and find a way to circumvent the algo change. it's the circle of life I suppose.
