Just wondering if there are any best practices around the use of sameAs in schema markup?

Is it best to just list major social media sites or should you also include profiles on major directory sites like yelp, tripadvisor etc?

If a business has over 20 or 30 well curated (accurate, complete, consistent NAPW) profiles across the internet should you list them all? Or is that going too far?

Do people aim for the top5? top10?

Would including lower quality sites in the sameAs list be detrimental (even if the data is good)?

Thanks,
Paul.

I've tried listing a few properties and listing as many as 20. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason at this point in time. I'm also curious in others experiences.

For simplicities sake, I'm a big fan of the JSON+LD deployment though:

<5CR1PT type="application/ld+json">
{ "@context" : "http://schema.org",
"@type" : "Person",
"name" : "your name",
"url" : "http://www.your-site.com",
"sameAs" : [ "http://www.facebook.com/your-profile",
"http://instagram.com/yourProfile",
"http://www.linkedin.com/in/yourprofile",
"http://plus.google.com/your_profile"]
}
< /5CR1PT>

I haven't had a chance to test it, but I wonder if weaving the sameAs data into content is more powerful.

EDIT: had to modify the SCRIPT tags.

I agree on json+ld .. I am using it as well and I have read it is now well supported by the search engines and testing tools.

It's all Greek to me. Obviously I'm not very technical, so you techy geeks are talking way over my pea brain! :p

Do you have any suggestions on where I can find more detail about using this script or example test people have conducted already? I want to test this out myself but would like more resources if possible. Thx
