Mike O'Brien over at Search Engine Watch has more information:

Bing Places Connects Consumers With Local Businesses

The offering has options for local businesses with storefronts, chains with multiple locations and services that conduct their business at customer locations. In those search results, marketers can claim their listings, or add them, if Bing hasn't already. From there, they have the option to add extra information, such as pictures, hours of operation, services offered and contact information.
Head over to read the full article.

Do you use Bing for any of your clients? Have you tried this new offering at all?

(oh and for comparison sake here's the Google result for the same "dentist canberra" query

Nice find. Very interesting. I like that they are using Yelp reviews to improve the search experience. Other search engines could learn from this one.

Thanks For sharing...yah, I wouldn't be writing off Bing. Google is pushing a lot of buttons around the world. At some point others are going to step in to balance things out.

Thanks for sharing Priya! I don't pay nearly enough attention to Bing.

Look forward to reading the Search Engine Watch article!

I'm not sure I understand what is news here. Bing Places for Business has existed for years. Am I missing something, a new feature in Bing Places or a new SERP format maybe? TIA!

its the roll out of packs (3,7 or otherwise) in the search results that is the news.

I've seen them do some testing of this, glad to see it roll out.

fascinating the differences and commonalities between the two packs.
Thinking there's some research begging to be done.

In answer to the question, I always include optimising Bing pages in the service because you never know...
