Exclamation 142 Top Searched Local Categories Last Week: Infographic from the LSA

The Local Search Association Insider gives us a huge glimpse at consumer search behavior over the past week. Not only the business categories but the media used to find the businesses.

Infographic: Top 142 Categories Consumers Searched for in Past Week
    LSA Insider

Looking at the top 142 categories consumers searched for in the past week and the media they used to conduct the search, LSA’s latest Local Media Tracking Study conducted with Burke found that, as expected, media performance varied by category. Overall, search engines dominated and restaurants were the most sought after category.

What do you think? Any surprises in the category order or media types???

When it comes to restaurants, what do you think the breakdown looks like of "Pizza Hut" vs "pizza" - meaning searches for a specific restaurant vs. a category of restaurant?

I tend to think it swings heavily in favour of brand...

Re: 142 Top Searched Local Categories Last Week: Infographic from the LSA

What a wealth of information. It is very insightful to see where my customers find their service providers. I was a little startled to see how little social media was used for finding local business. I was also surprised to see how well yellow pages did for categories like roofers and plumbers.

I must note that search habits in different markets will always be different.
