Linda,
I recognised some of those images on his page as stock photos. Wonder how many people who posted photos, broke the law themselves in their zeal to express their opinions.

G is losing the battle - there are 6,000+ reviews on his page now, almost exclusively 1 star.

This is disturbing on so many levels. I do hope G and Y take some valuable lessons from this situation and tune those review filters to manage situations like this. It's unreal.

Back down to 2728 so they must be working on it. But in a case like this I would think instead of having people constantly having to read and delete these, they would just turn off reviews for awhile til this dies down. The chance of him getting a legit review in the short term are pretty slim. Especially since I heard he closed down.

This is a pretty rough situation. I would never have thought people would go after the digital marketing agency for the practice. To me that's ridiculous. How would the marketing company be involved in the decision to kill a lion, or why would they be "hiding" the dentist? Some people jump to crazy conclusions which could hurt so many more people. Sorry to hear about Page 1 getting caught up in this.

I hope that dentist goes to jail for his actions, but he should be the only one that has to pay for the terrible decision. It's really a shame this is hurting so many people that had no involvement in the situation.

Here's another example (no where near as extreme) of a business getting a burst of negative reviews - not from customers, again the social commentary:

Is this a growing trend? We see endless stories of bullying in social media platforms. Are reviews the next bullying frontier? The review filters will have a heck of a time keeping up with this.

And I think this pretty much sums up what's happened (particularly in relation to Page 1)
"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals..."
(kudos if you can name the movie & character ;) )

...too many innocent victims in this sad situation...

Is this a growing trend? I think so. It's been happening for a while. A local dive bar here in Charlotte had this happen to them two years ago.

After the Cowboys played the Panthers, some fans had too much to drink and one of the Cowboys fans was a Veteran who lost his legs in combat.

Both parties were asked to leave, but the story went viral and death threats started coming in via Yelp, Google, and phone calls.

The owner of the bar was also a Vet and he pleaded and apologized profusely to the Vet that was asked to leave.

It took weeks for things to calm down.
