Google Transitions to New 3 Pack for Branded Hotel Terms

    Just released today.

In the past, branded terms would bring up a legacy pack with the pin, G+ page and sitelink and now it's moved to the new pack which makes HPA very prominent and allows competitors more opportunity to steal bookings on branded terms.

    Thanks for sharing Will!

I don't deal with or even look at hotel SERPs much, so a couple Qs.

This is the display that's been around for awhile right? Previously it was only showing for KW searches and what's changed is that now it's showing for brand searches as well?

What does HPA stand for? Racked my brain trying to think of what that could mean.

Re: Google Transitions to New 3 Pack for Branded Hotel Terms

    Hi Linda,

For generic terms like "NYC hotels" this display has been around for a few months but when someone would search "Hilton NYC hotels" it would still show a legacy pack until earlier this morning.

HPA = Hotel price ads which is a paid placement where hotel suppliers (Hilton, Marriott) and online travel agencies (Expedia, Orbitz) bid to show their rates and ultimately hope to secure the traveler's booking when they view more information for a hotel.
