Re: Yext Launches Xone - A Revolutionary Mobile Customer Engagement Tool

    Linda,

Thanks so much for the write up and for posting the new product here. Naturally, I view this community as one of the best in terms of both knowledge and their frank attitudes.

I am incredibly excited for Xone, particularly for all of our certified partners, as this will be an outstanding new source of opportunity for them to leverage our beacon based mobile audience solutions with their own customers.

There is a lot to share, but we are also still in beta as this space has a lot of growing up and logistics to solve. That said, I have set up a private site for certified partners (and any professional agency or digital marketer that is interested) to get on the waitlist for Xone. We are rolling out all the partner tools for Xone on October 12th, so anyone is free to sign up here: Xone for Yext Partners and we will reach out as we work through the queue.

Engaging with customers while they are present in a location has been going on since there were places to go at all. From menus to brochures to just about any signage inside a store or place of business, information and engagement has been a natural part of any consumer experience. What's changed in recent years is how people look for that information!. Xone is meant to answer that, and to provide our partners with great ways to leverage that information later.

Thanks and I'll share more here soon.

Re: Yext Launches Xone - A Revolutionary Mobile Customer Engagement Tool

I'm bumping this because I was just on a call with some Yext reps talking about Xone & it's uses for the company I work for (at a high level). Seems really interesting. Are there other companies in this sector offering similar products? Does anyone have any thoughts about Xone or have reviews/comparisons?

I'm looking to learn more about beacons in general, because their uses are very interesting. Anyone have a good case study from using this?

Eric, you should talk to Greg Gifford and Casey Markee, we have been doing pilots and our last talk was covered by Christi Olson in Marketing Land, inclusive of results from Greg's testing where CTR was up by almost 46% on one his tests.

    Christi's article:

Re: Yext Launches Xone - A Revolutionary Mobile Customer Engagement Tool

The major problem with beacon technology is accompanying app adoption and I was/am very skeptical about how valuable beacon technology really would be because of everyone having to download another app.

However, after reading about a "network of apps" that XONE has created, this is very interesting, mostly because the article seems to suggest XONE has Facebook as a partner for their network. Now, that's a game changer as tons of people have Facebook as an app on their phone.

The real question is does the consumer having the Facebook app on their phone allow you to have a free flow of information or does it have limitations placed on it by Facebook? For instance, because of the FB app, can you get that KPI conversion information tying the advertising to the purchase even if the advertising took place outside of Facebook? Can you send custom push offers or notifications outside of Facebook? Or are you limited by what apps they have installed and what the publishers of those apps do/do not allow?

If so, beacon technology currently looks like a more expensive, albeit higher converting, way to do retargeting. But even if that is the current state of affairs, it' still pretty exciting considering the potential.

Re: Yext Launches Xone - A Revolutionary Mobile Customer Engagement Tool

Josh, you are absolutely right that you don't need to install an app anymore, this is the beauty of Xone! On advertiser side, we have more than facebook as a partner (now Twitter, Instagram and Yahoo too) and plan to add Google to round out all the major ad platforms.

And now, the answers to your questions:

The real question is does the consumer having the Facebook app on their phone allow you to have a free flow of information or does it have limitations placed on it by Facebook
-The consumer opts into sharing their data with third party platforms like Yext upon install of the consumer facing app on our publisher network. If the consumer has any of the Xone apps installed, the only data recorded is the IDFA (ID for Advertising) and we pass those along to the Ad platforms. No PII is stored on our side and Advertisers match the IDFA to users.

For instance, because of the FB app, can you get that KPI conversion information tying the advertising to the purchase even if the advertising took place outside of Facebook?
-Xone allows you to build a local audience that you export to Facebook via API. Once in Facebook, your experience is akin to any other ad campaign.

Can you send custom push offers or notifications outside of Facebook?
-You can setup in-app experiences with a CTA but not push notifications. Our biggest concern is folks setting up irrelevant notifications leading to app uninstalls.

Or are you limited by what apps they have installed and what the publishers of those apps do/do not allow?
-In-app experiences are limited to the app publishers in our network and given that we are at over 50m MAU (monthly average users) in our app network, it's a large enough footprint that is growing.

Re: Yext Launches Xone - A Revolutionary Mobile Customer Engagement Tool

From a retail standpoint this is very interesting because you're able to build an online marketing list (retargeting list/fb ad audience) without the need for someone visiting your site. Right now we're still in the learning phase, but thinking about the benefits of tagging someone who decides to walk into a store and wander is really cool. Also... what happens if we see people getting tagged at multiple stores? Does that mean the first store had a worse product offering or was it something very specific people are looking for?

The uses seem interesting to explore. I've talked with the SEO manager at Home Depot and they're working on beacons for each isle to make the lists really granular. That's the ideal scenario if the test phases work well for a sampling of stores. Walking into a store is the same as visiting a website; you're at least a little interested in that company, so retargeting/online ads will be relevant.

Very cool stuff happening on this front.

I guess my post was deleted for some reason but it sounds very interesting from a retail side. I look forward to watching it develop!
