Merging Google+ with Places -- Suite Number Issue. Your Thoughts Please . . .

We've been battling a suite number discrepancy for months (Linda, we talked about this one). Hundreds of citations, the web site, and Mapmaker use "Ste 10". Google Places and Plus have been locked on "#10" . . . until today.

We're about to verify the Plus page, and lo and behold, we can actually edit the suite number to our preferred format: "Ste 10" in Plus. But when Google reaches out to find the matching business in Places (which uses "#10"), it's not clear which address format will prevail. The system wants to send the postcard to "#10", in spite of the fact that the address in Plus is now "Ste 10".

Is there any hope that the edited Plus address will override the Places address? Or, that once merged, we can tweak the suite number?

Would appreciate any help or insight on this. Need to get it right. Thanks!

"The system wants to send the postcard to "#10", in spite of the fact that the address in Plus is now "Ste 10". "

Ya it's going to send PIN to the Places address because it's verifying TO that address. In other words if it sent to the G+ address someone could set up a G+ page to try to hijack an existing Place page.

What address will prevail after the merge is anyone's guess.
Do let us know what happens and good luck with the fight Michael!

Michael, I don't remember all the details but assume you've tried a poke AND the troubleshooter, and still can't get suite right on the Place page?

Not sure I mentioned to you back when I did your consulting on this case, because I've only noticed it fairly recently and just recently started to mention it in my training. But Places does not seem to like Ste, so I don't think it's just this listing.

Many times the USPS official address format is Ste and that's why you'll find lots of citations for that format. BUT even if a company has thousands of Ste citations and only 5 for Suite or #, I NEVER see G create a dupe for Ste. I never see scraped dupes for Ste. So that leads me to believe she understands Ste = Suite or #. So I would not stress over it too much.

    Hi Linda,

Yes, I've tried poking and the troubleshooter . . . no effect. We just merged Places and Plus, waiting for the postcard now. Will post what happens.

Sorry if I missed this somewhere, but how, as a client, do I get access to the Pro section of this forum?

Hey Michael I'd sent a couple emails to all clients about how to upgrade to Pro. Just upgraded you and sent you PM so you can get into private forum now.
