Question Asking Clients to Leave Reviews at Business

    Hi Everyone,

Simple question really, just couldn't find a definitive answer on this across the web...

Is it okay if most of a law firm's Google & Yelp reviews are done by clients (on their phones, NOT OUR devices) at the physical location of the law firm?

Does this send any red flags or cause reviews to get filtered if Google or Yelp see reviews being posted from the same location?

We would love to ask them to give us a review as they are signing off with the attorneys -- many would be happy to do it right then and there on their phone in our office.

Thanks so much for any insights or advice!

Re: Asking Clients to Leave Reviews at Business

    Hi Kbone

For Google you're likely to trigger an alert if customers are using your wi-fi as all the reviews will be coming from the same IP address. This can make it seem as if customers are using a review station which is against Google's guidelines: "If you're a business owner, don't set up review stations or kiosks at your place of business just to ask for reviews written at your place of business." (https://support.google.com/business/answer/2622994?rd=2)

For Yelp it used to be that you weren't supposed to ask for reviews but if someone checks into your business via Yelp, the system itself will ask them to review the business.

I'm not current with Yelp though so hopefully someone else with more expertise in that area can chime in.

Great advice Priya.. thank you. We will ensure no one uses our wifi when leaving a review. Thank you for your insights.
