Does nextdoor give any backlink juice for local seo ?

I see the neighborhood community website nextdoor has a classified section. Is it any good for local seo or does google not even crawl the site because its membership based ?

Re: Does nextdoor give any backlink juice for local seo ?

The rule of thumb that I've always used is that if you have to login to view, then Google can't get in to view it.

So if it's a password protected forum (or directory), Google can't index the pages as it doesn't have the password.

Now there's always exceptions to the rule, but that's the general rule that we use when seeing out links of influence.

While it could be good to contribute to a community (eg network), it may not help you from a SEO standpoint. Looks like this would be a really good site if people in the community were active on it. It may be a nice way for people who just moved in to connect and get a better feel for the area.

I wouldn't think of it as a SEO benefit, but a possible lead gen source if done tactfully.

Hmm I am curious because the links generated are generated from Google. I believe when you recommend a business it pulls it from Google My Business . As shown below

Nextdoor markets as 'private' so I would be very surprised if anything happening behind the closed doors was making its way to Google's crawlers.

It looks like the site isn't blocking anything, so all the pages are getting indexed.

    site:https://nextdoor.com

Looks like events created on this page are indexed too https://nextdoor.com/events/476278/

This could be a good community to get established in, which would provide seo benefit and a community benefit. I'll stress not to use it just for SEO purposes... that could lead to abuse if not careful. Use it to drive more of a presence in the community, and think of the SEO as an added benefit. Market the business correctly, and use it if your customers are there. Links don't create revenue, but strategic marketing could.

My neighborhood actually uses Nextdoor. Guess I'll have to look into it to a little further.

Re: Does nextdoor give any backlink juice for local seo ?

I personally use Nextdoor with my nearby neighborhoods to ask things like, "Will an antenna work in Oceanside to get reception for San Diego TV channels", or "Does anyone know a good appliance repair person who works in North County". It's pretty good for that.

They have two sections to advertise. One is the classified and the second is recommend a local business. The recommend option is the one that pulls from Google.

For sure I would not spam my neighbors. I was just curious if it would give good link juice for a local citation - backlink.

I mean.. there is a ton of 'Lost Pet' spam from my neighborhood. Some marketing spam might be a nice change of pace.
