Google My Business location page should take care of it. And/or log into your Google account and you should see a small indicator in the left panel image you provided and select "Add a missing place"

Hey John,

I'm sure they already have a GMB page, correct?

What type of business is it?

I don't think many would search for address, then scroll down to see who's else is in the building? Typically you search for address because you are going to a specific business and want to see where they are located.

I'm taking an educated guess here, but it looks like all the businesses that are listed also have 'Place Labels'. If you zoom in on the map you can see each name and a little marker.

Not all businesses show up with 'Place Labels'. You can imagine in downtown areas the map would be a mess and many in big buildings would overlap if Google attempted to show them all. So they mainly show the most prominent businesses.

More about 'Place Labels' here: https://support.google.com/business/answer/6056435?vid=0-534460971922-1484601306956

"The place labels shown on Google Maps are determined algorithmically based on a large number of factors. One factor these algorithms consider is the accuracy of the business information and the richness of the content associated with the business."

However, having said all that - when I search on Map Maker I don't see any other businesses there either.

If you care to share, a link to their GMB page may tell us more.

Linda,

Thanks so much for the response! Here is the link to their GMB/knowledge graph result.

I agree, that the SEO benefit of being featured here is low, but a client asked and we want to figure out how it works for future reference, or possible to capitalize on being featured in the sidebar.

Looks like place markers function a lot like the local pack, someone with good info and reviews, and high rankings get featured, unless you've previously gotten directions/left a review to that business.

Thanks again, I look forward to hearing more about this.

I'm going to go ahead and guess that the "Anthony N. Dardano, DO, FACS" page in the same location is filtering you out due to Possum. Just my best guess.

Thanks Joshua, I was going to check for dupes when I had time.

I checked Map Maker and didn't see the Dr you mentioned.
But found these 2 listings at same location as well.

Rafael Cabrera MD
Kwik-Stitch

In addition to the Possum filter and just regular dupe filtering we had before...
Depending on situation that Kwik-Stitch could be a violation.

Are you rebranding? Is that an old brand. Do you share office with another practice?
It isn't claimed and the site is under construction. Could be a Google mistake?

Hi!

Rafael Cabrera is the name of the doctor, and the business is called "Plastic Surgery Specialists Boca Raton." Kwik-Stitch is a business that shares the office with them.

Keep in mind, I am not being filtered for local search, I just want to know what the criteria is for being in the "At this location" sidebar.

Thanks

You're sure you're not being filtered in local search in favor of the Doctor? If so, it's unlikely this is the issue then.

I was going to suggest deoptimizing the doctor via Linda's process for doing so but if the Doctor isn't filtering you in search, it shouldn't filter you here either.

Out of ideas at the moment.

Okay, I think I found the answer. Businesses with high Google reviews are featured in the "At this location" sidebar.

Of the five businesses I checked, three had a high Google review average and were featured, and the remaining two had one or no reviews (ie not enough to create an average).

So I think that's the answer.

Further example: Japanese BBQ restaurant has 3.8 average and shares a building with a Pizza Hut that has a 3.4 average. When you search the address, the Japanese BBQ appears in the sidebar, Pizza Hut isn't.

Thanks everyone for responding.
