    Exclamation Server Move Complete

Just wanted to let you know we are in the process of moving the forum to a new server and host. We expect the big parts of the move to happen tomorrow morning.

We don't expect any turbulence, but some moves can get a little bumpy.

If you have trouble accessing the forum over the next couple days, it's likely just an issue of DNS propagation. A DNS change can take up to 72 hours to propagate worldwide, although most often this happens in a matter of hours. For mods and others that need to get on as soon as possible, here is some info that may be helpful.

. Flushing your own local DNS cache can help speed up the process. More information on how to flush your local cache based on the OS you are using can be found in the articles below:

How to Clear the Local DNS Cache in Windows

How to Clear the Local DNS Cache in Linux

How to Clear the Local DNS Cache in Mac OS
Quote above & more info from SiteGround. (FYI, not our host, just seemed like a good explanation.)

David, @djbaxter, our Forum Administrator, will keep us posted as needed.

We are now on the new server and the forum has been reopened for new posts and new registrations.

Please post here or PM me if you see anything amiss.

Re: Heads Up Server Move - Fasten Seat Belts

    Notes:

    1. I found that I kept getting logged out and then realized why: I now had two sets of cookies for this forum - one set for the old server and now one set for the new server. If this is happening to you, delete all your localsearchforum cookies and that should resolve the issue.
    2. You may find that for a while when you follow a link to another page you will suddenly see the "This forum is closed" message again. Just refresh the page. What that means is that you've just accessed the forum via a DNS datacenter that is still updating. This should not continue much longer.
