    Citygrid Sinking?

Greg Sterling just posted What’s Going on at CityGrid? on Screenwerk.

Sorry to see any company struggle, but with the local citation market so highly fragmented it might be nice to some consolidation.

Thanks so much for sharing that post here Daniel! I've been in training all day so have not had much time to dig into Reader and had not seen it.

Just seems that 'local' is such a touch nut to crack for many companies. SMBs need listings and accurate data but don't seem willing to pay much for it. So then these companies try to rely on advertising revenue. But it's gotta be hard to sell ads on other sites and go up against the visibility of Google who has the majority of consumer eyeballs.

We have been using their phone support a lot lately to help clean-up NAP issues for clients. They are quite efficient in this respect.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out since they are such an important player in local search.

Just speculation on my part, but I doubt that CitySearch's financial woes will change where it fits into the local search ecosystem. They'll just keep on truckin'.
