    Local.BOTW.org now charging

Looks like another site jumped on the freemium bandwagon: local.BOTW.org

I've just received a tip from someone in my tribe that they're now charging $1.99 / month for a formerly free "JumpStart" listing (http://local.botw.org/helpcenter/premiumproduct.aspx).

Not exactly too rich for most business owners' blood, but I'm beginning to see a trend here.

    Thanks for update Phil.

Wow 1.99 a month does not even seem like it's worth the CC processing to mess with unless lots end up upgrading to a higher end package.

Seriously. I'm thinking at least half the reason is quality-control. They must get sick of junk submissions.

LOL probably true. 1.99 is a barrier to entry for some I guess.

So the question is, is it worth it?

For $1.99? I hardly think that you or anyone else would lose any sleep over that kind of money.

Unless that was intended as sarcasm?

I am positive the nominal fee of $1.99/month is meant more as a verification procedure than as a means to earn money. It is same as the ShowMeLocal $5 (one-time) phone verification fee, or the $20 (one-time) Foursquare instant verification. In this sense, I think BOTW is totally worth it as this is one more proof that they do care about the quality of their data.

I don't want costs to go up, but I'm all for weeding out junk submissions.
