Great post by Joy Hawkins over at Imprezzio Marketing today.

She goes into detail about how the new "views" metric for G+ pages is calculated and shows you how to use it to size up your competition.

A New Way to Measure How you Stack up to Competitors on Google Plus: View Counts | Imprezzio Marketing

I read an awesome article this morning from Stone Temple Consulting that explains the new visible metric that Google added in March 31, 2014 to all Google Plus personal profiles and business pages. Google defines G+ view counts as ?This number tells you how many times your content has been seen by other people, including your Photos, Posts, and the page itself.? Stone Temple Consulting goes into more lengths and explains how you accumulate these numbers...

How Can you Use these Metrics for Competitor Analysis?
So if you take a look at your competitors you will find the following scenario examples...

...None of the businesses who had posts had any significant activity on them which leads me to believe that most of the view counts are solely due to local ranking on Google.
Head over to read the rest... Thanks Joy!

Google+ is really getting so exciting and opening up new opportunities for small businesses. This is just one of many new features to come I'm sure.

Interesting - has anyone seen odd increases in their views numbers this month though? I pulled the numbers on all of mine on the 1st of April, and looking at some of them, there's increases of 400,000 some views this month on some of my listings - which I don't believe at all. In addition, math would lead you to assume that my number from April 1st plus the insights for the last month should equal around the page views, and its no where close.

So I'm tending not to believe Google's numbers right now.
