Client seems to have a few too many G+ sites. This is the one I want to keep (has good reviews and is verified). But, I don't know who owns/manages it. Have tried to contact the owner and request ownership but no response yet:

Another one (I set this up a couple years ago - client is owner, i'm manager). Not verified.

Then, there are three more randoms. Client is owner. I have login access. What confuses me is that three separate listings can be tied to the same profile and have the same login (gmail acct and pw). Is that weird?:

I spoke to someone at Google the other day who suggested trying to contact the owner of the first page, which I did. They said if nobody responded, they would attempt to merge the two first pages (the claimed one and the unclaimed one that I manage), but that they can't guarantee the reviews will survive the merge. That concerns me.
Any ideas on how to best clean up this mess are greatly appreciated.

I'm confused why support would say that.

Only the top one is a verified local page.

The other 4 are G+ business pages or maybe some are unverified local pages. But they don't show up on search or maps so don't really play in.

The 2nd one you set up, if you set that up as a G+ Local page, I think you should delete from dash. You can't try to have 2 claimed listings and the other one already is. So just get control of that one. Delete #2 and the other 3 don't worry about unless you can find the accounts they are in, then just delete them.

OK, I'll delete the one I set up as well as the 3 bonus profiles.
I may not be able to get control of the good one.
Pro
It's verified and it has the great reviews
Con
I can't control or add our YouTube channel to this account

So, if client never gets ownership/management of that account, what should I do about a new YouTube channel - I'd have to set up another account, or use one of the existing profiles? Seems like that's another can of worms!

In my experience, if you have gone through the attempt to transfer ownership of that listing and it's been a week and you have not heard back from the "owner", you can call support, explain the situation and they will be able to get you control of that listing. Not sure about the YT channel though.

I'm confused why support would say that.

Linda, I deal mainly with auto repair shops, support doesn't much help when someone else has already claimed the listing. In several cases when Bosch, Yellow Pages, or others, had claimed a listing in behalf of a shop (back when Google Places), we are told to contact the previous "owner". Bosch has been quite responsive to the requests, but all the others won't even respond. Why can't Google ask for proof of ownership, such a business license, etc.? All a business had to do is submit one or two proofs of ownership (perhaps via fax) and that would avoid all the hassle. This is one of the reasons many SMBs give up on trying to get their listing verified.

A couple weeks ago Google sent a survey asking feedback on how to improve GMB. I posted a list of all the problems, which I gladly post in here if you allow it, never got a reply.

Thank you everyone - I will try a couple suggestions here and report back. Meanwhile, have a couple other similar conundrums, and am very happy to have found this very useful forum!
