Hi,

One of my attorney client's Google+ Local Pages just disappeared into thin air. The corresponding Google Maps Listing is gone and its Google Mapmaker POI equivalent also no longer exists.

I'm pretty sure the listing(s) are within Google's guidelines.

What do you suggest is the best procedure to get this resolved (considering that Google Mapmaker suggests: "Please report this error along with a link to this page"?

Here are the 'former' URLs and the error messages they show:

Google+ Local URL: https://plus.google.com/105349820802135625463/

404. That's an error. The requested URL was not found on this server. That’s all we know.

Google Maps: Google Maps

We could not understand the location.

Google Map Maker: Google Map Maker

The operation could not be performed because the underlying feature is missing. Please report this error along with a link to this page.

Thank you,

Russ

Also worth mentioning is that if I try to view this attorney listing (for Gerald) from within Google Places dashboard using the "See your listing on Google" link, it now brings me to the Google+ Local page for the main Law Firm.

Also, when I look at that main law firm listing, it now has mixed data in it... it has the logo image for the Law Firm but the business title is the title is from a 3rd attorney (Jean).

This is all happening after I submitted a troubleshooter report last week for yet another listing (that is/was merged with the main law firm listing)... so I'm afraid to mess with things because all this is just getting even messier!

The last troubleshooter report I sent was for the attorney listing that was merged with the law firm listing, not the law firm listing itself... so I'm wondering if I should 'also' send a troubleshooter report in for the actual law firm listing itself now.

:S

Just a little confused because I'm visual and also don't know any details since nothing is visible and you provided no business data for me to even start investigating.

And I would like to find out a little more before sending you to that support link in order to send you on the right troubleshooter path.

But based on what you are saying it sounds like a merge.

Can you post a screenshot of the locations screen then also the right side of the missing listings stats screen that shows cats, desc, etc.

I need to see how the names are set up. But bottom line is if all the attys are listed as "Practice Name: Atty Name" AND all links in atty Place pages go to home page of site AND all have same address and phone AND all have overlapping cats, then that's just asking for a merge. And you'll have a continuous battle with this.

Also do you by chance have a record of the missing listing's CID? That's important to record and can be helpful when troubleshooting.

Hi Linda,

Here is the info you requested (if I understood correctly.)

Each attorney listing points to their individual profile page on the law firm's website. the main office listing points to the home page of the law firm's website.

I made sure that each attorney listing only contained the attorney's name in the title, and not the company name.

I do have the CIDs ... they were provided in my original post, but the URLs were parsed into links with anchor text instead of the raw URL on your forum.

Main Office URLs:

https:// plus.google .com/113100896152223967257 (Now showing Jean's info)

Google Map Maker --> cid=2922011443214553837

Google Maps --> cid=2922011443214553837

Gerald's Listing URLs:

Google+ Local URL: https:// plus.google .com/105349820802135625463/

Google Places: https:// maps.google .com/maps?cid=17226792500142833409

Google Mapmaker: http:// http://www.google. com/mapmaker?gw=90&cid=17226792500142833409

Google Places Dashboard Screen Shots:

You can see in the places dashboard screen shot that there were/are already 2 merged listings (Appel's listing merged with the main office listing a few months ago... I have already send a troubleshooter request in for Appel's listing, but not the main listing yet.) Now it seems like Gerald's listing is starting to merge / has merged with the main office listing this past week... but this case may be worse... because his GMM POI is gone and his Google Places URL is dead too, along with his G+ Local page.

OK now that I know name/phone I could dig a little deeper.

Not sure if you've seen but now Jean has 3 listings.
(262) 547-2611 - Google Maps

And one of them IS a combo name practice and his/her name:
"Jastroch & La Barge: Brown Jean J" and that ones claimed.

I say his/her because due to all the merging and over-clustering that's going on I can't tell who's who.
One of Jean's listings has a male pic, one a female pic and one the practice logo.

Ohhhhh actually in looking further I see Jean is a female.

AND the reason a man's pic is on that 3rd Jean listing is because THAT one is merge with Gerald's.

Jastroch La Barge: Brown Jean J - About - Google+
"Jastroch & La Barge: Brown Jean J" with Gerald's pic and description.

And it IS showing as claimed. But you said you made sure none of the listings in your dash had practice name??? OK I can see dash now and that one isn't there. Maybe it's claimed in another account somewhere?

In fact, maybe that's why this dashboard does not show much evidence of merges except for the 2 listings. Maybe client or previous SEO has another account filled with listings too? Because again the one linked above IS claimed, but not in your dash.

These listings are just all starting to merge and there is likely even more over-clustering than we can see going on, on the back end.

I'd email back the G support person that helped you and try to explain all of this. I've helped other consultants on really complicated merges like this and ended up just having to take it right up the flag pole directly to the head of support. Since you've already submitted a ticket and talked to someone, just follow up with them and get them to help you unravel this mess.

Hi Linda,

Searching in maps.google.com for the client's phone number helps to see things in a different light. Thanks.

Yes, there are 3 'Jean' listing showing up in that search (in Google Map Maker there is actually a 4th 'Jean' POI that has no G+ Local page nor maps.google.com listing associated with it that I can see!)

Anyway, the 1st occurrence of 'Jean Brown' (B) is actually supposed to be the Main Office listing. Jean's listing just very recently merged with the Main Office listing.

Previously (about a week or two ago) listing F was merged with the Main Office listing. This listing (F) is actually supposed to be for an attorney named Karen, but it is still broken.

The 2nd occurrence of 'Jean' (G) is Jean's proper listing. It has the correct photo and title. The woman in the photo is Jean.

The 3rd occurrence of 'Jean' (H) is supposed to be for an attorney named Raymond. The title is wrong, but the photo is correct. The man in the photo is Raymond.

So, in the screen shot above the only missing listing is for Gerald, which mysteriously disappeared in the last few days... his listing appears in my Google Places Dashboard, and I can click through to edit it, however, if I click on the 'See your listing on Google' link in the dashboard, it shows the Main Office listing (which also happens to be currently merging with Jean's listing.)

I believe, as supported by Mike B, that I should wait to hear back from Google with a case number for my original troubleshooter submission (regarding Karen's merged listing)... then pile on all these other merges onto that case so that I can have a single human being handling all the listings.

Yep that's what I recommended too is replying back to support to get help untangling it all. Thought you'd already gotten a reply from them.
