Hey all I'm new here so thanks for allowing my question. I came across a simple 'how to' recently on how to 'GeoTag' pics for GMB to get higher search rankings for keywords/phrases.

I've summarized the strategy below.

My question is: Is this the 'correct' way to use geotagging?

Thanks in advance for your sage advice.

Cheers!

Mark

Step1: Open Google Maps ( Google Maps )

In the search box at the top, type your 'Business Name'

Results will be your 'Google My Business' listing with latitude & longitude showing in 'search bar'

Example: Google Maps,
17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x54

Step 2: Go to Geotag Photos Online

Upload your desired image

Copy in latitude & longitude where required
As (example) 49.152163, -123.119595

‘New Geotags’ window will ‘populate’

Step 3: Type your 'keywords' into 'Document name'
Example: (LeadGenerationServiceRichmondBC)

Step 4: Type your 'keywords' into 'image description'
Example: (lead-generation-service-richmond-bc)

Step 5: Click "Write EXIF Tags"

Step 6: Click "Download" to computer to get new photo with embedded geotag & keyword information

Step 7: Upload pic to your GMB account in your photos section.

Done

I stopped exploring and experimenting geotagging photos after I saw this response from @JoyHawkins Adding MORE photos to a GMB profile - - any value - Local Search Forum I would spend more time adding a lot more high-quality photos based on a research form Search Engine Land: New research shows strong link between Google My Business photo quantity and search performance - Search Engine Land

Thanks for taking the time to answer my question & the redirection Rael! Much appreciated! Yeh Canucks!
