Manual Google+ Verification email from Google!?!?

I thought this was interesting - I had requested a Verification PIN on my client's behald to verify the +listing and he got this email...I've never seen that before - has anyone else? It is, in fact, verfied. For what it's worth, this business address is hidden since he works out of his house and services clients at their lcoation ...

    Hi Shonda,

Yes Google has been doing those for awhile now. BUT thanks for sharing because you never know it could be something brand new. AND it's new enough and has not been discussed much, so most folks likely don't know about it yet. It's not widespread, just happens occasionally and appears they are trying to be more pre-active.

FYI Google says service area businesses with address hidden are not supposed to merge yet. It 'can' be done but there are bumps and it's not advised.

Except doesn't Blumenthal say to go ahead anyway? I thought I read in one of his posts that he said it's "not advised" but basically he said what the heck...go for it anyway...or maybe that was you who said that. I can't recall. Just confused now

Re: Manual Google+ Verification email from Google!?!?

OK here’s the full confusing scoop.

Google clearly states in multiple places service area businesses with address hidden are not supposed to merge yet. But when I questioned them about the address hidden part I was told service area businesses should not merge at all, whether address hidden or not because there is no service area feature in G+.

So a couple times when I mentioned that, Mihm and Blumenthal said something to the affect that the service area feature does not do anything any way so why worry about it. If you want to merge go ahead and merge.

I get their point but the whole merge thing is buggy enough already and my personal feeling is there may be more to the story. So if Google tells me service area businesses SHOULD NOT merge yet - then that's what I'm going to tell you guys.

But again I see what they are saying - so there you go, clear as mud, do what you think is best.

Thanks for the clarification...lol I think for now I'm going to hold off with my clients. I'll wait for the dust to settle a little on this issue.
