THE BEST Google+ Local Slideshow EVA! Bar none!

Some great meaty info in here and good tips about merging your G+ Local (Place Page) with your G+ Business page. But OMG OMG the graphics and the way this slide show is laid out is amazingly funny. I'm just rolling on the floor laughing!

Gotta share a quick preview 1st. If you live in my world of Google+ Local troubleshooting all day long,
you'll realize all these G+ merge problems are ALMOST as painful as this image looks!

OK, so on with the show. Greg Gifford, Director of Search and Social at AutoRevo did this slideshow for his presentation to the DFWSEM group.

How to Kick Ass on Google+ Local When You're All Out Of Bubblegum

Wasn't that seriously good??? Love the bullet points angling down the fingers and the "glitch image" was pretty good too!

Plus it covered lots of good tips like how to merge and how to avoid G+merge verification problems and review problems and even reminds you after you merge you can't edit in the Places dashboard. Also goes into some ranking factors and just was overall a really good presentation!

Would love to have seen/heard the audience when some of these slides popped up. Although if it was more an organic SEO crowd not sure they would have gotten the full impact and meaning behind some of these slides, like you guys who are in the G Local trenches probably did.

Tell you one thing - Greg just got a new subscriber to his blog at AutoRevo which has great images too.

What was YOUR fav part of the show?

Linda -

So glad you enjoyed my slides. The presentation was MUCH better in person... Each "anti-tip" in the second half was followed by a video clip with funny movie quotes.

Are you going to SMX West? I'd love to meet up with you and show you...

Thanks again for the awesome comments!

Thanks for joining, commenting and for the great SHOW!

Ya wish I would have seen it live. I just Tweeted to ask if you had links to the vid clips but I though you meant clips of the event, not movie clips.

You seem to really know your stuff when it comes to G+L. If you have not yet you should look around here. We have the latest breaking news on changes as they happen and really advanced tips on some of the more complicated G+ L problems that come up.

Would love to have your experise AND wit here at the Local Search Community! :)

Hi Guys,

Lurker here for awhile. Thanks for always posting helpful content for SEM.

I had a question with the slide that says, 'There can only be one.'

Are you only supposed to have one place verified on your google places account? If so why is this the case?

Thanks!

Jordan

Hey Jordan! Thanks for coming out of lurker mode to post. :)

Only 1 listing per business per location is allowed.

The exception being Drs. Dentists, Attys who are allowed 1 for the practice name and one for each practitioner. (Same kind of applies to realtors and insurance agents if all independent BUT working from same office.)

Not only is it a serious violation to have more than one listing claimed (in same or different dashboards) but it can cause ALL kinds of problems with reviews, images, ranking penalties and suspension.

If you have more specific Qs on this topic or want us to help you with your listing please post down in the help section so we don’t take Greg's thread off topic. There are a BUNCH of different scenarios and it can get a little complicated. There are also lots of situations where even businesses who have multiple locations DON'T qualify to have additional Place pages. So start a new thread if you want to discuss in more details and we'll be happy to help you there!

Lisa,

Thanks for your feedback! I had misunderstood and I thought that if I had multiple google places listings for *different* businesses that I could have only 1 business within my google places account.

Relieved to know I can continue adding them :)

(That's why I suggested new thread and said there are so many different scenarios ALL with diff answers. So wanted to get more info about what you are trying to do so I could give you the RIGHT answer. Ya should not do multiple clients, different companies in same account.)

Classic. Props to Greg Gifford for this one.

I'd love to hear the audio from the presentation.

My favorite is the one attached above from Total Recall. Do you merge your Google+ Local page with your Google+ Business page. Funny stuff.
